Sehr schönes Lokal zum Rum Tasting. Für mich gibt es hier den besten Poncha der Insel. Sehr netter Betreiber mit großem Wissen zu allen Produkten. Stilvolles Interieur mit Plattenspieler und toller Musik, sehr leckeren Häppchen wie salziges Popcorn, Salz Karamell und ähnliches. Sehr charmant :) Man kann innen wie außen, sehr nett sitzen. Optimal, um im Anschluss in der Nähe essen zu gehen :) ~ Melanie W
Fantastica esperienza. Competenza e disponibilità. David, ragazzo giovane cortese e professionale. Degustazione di 4 differenti William Hinton, pregevolissimi e gradevolissimi. Tutto molto consueto se non fosse che non sono un amante del distillato della canna da zucchero come invece di altri distillati. Possibilità di abbinare sigari cubani alla bevuta. ~ Emanuele D
Nettes kleines Lokal am Ende der Touristraße. Hier gibt es diverse Ponchas und wie der Name schon sagt gibt es hier vor allem einheimischen Rum. Beim Tasting gibt es eine Erklärung zu den Rums plus Snacks und man kann sich auch beraten lassen. Der Inhaber ist ein entspannter Typ der auch gerne mal vorbeikommt, sodass man mit ihm über reden kann. Alles in allem für Rumliebhaber definitiv eine Anlaufstelle. ~ Stefan K
Nous nous sommes laissé tenté par l’ambiance et le cadre de ce lieu assez original, qui sert toute sorte de rhums produits sur l’île de Madère. Le patron des lieux nous a expliqué la carte avant que nous puissions commander. Nous avons testé quatre rhums fabriqués sur l’île. L’intérieur du lieu est décoré de manière original, et permet de voir les rhums fabriqués du Nord au sud de l’île. ~ Laurent B
Sehr empfehlenswerte Bar in Funchal! Der Barbesitzer ist fantastisch! Voller Hingabe und mit Liebe ins Detail wird alles über den Ruhm in Madeira erzählt. Das ist gelebte Gastfreundschaft! Das Ambiente versprüht Charme und die Einrichtung passt gut zum Lokal. Auch die Musik war exzellent gewählt! Wirklich ein tolles Lokal! ~ Günter S
Ein wunderbarer Ort! Der freundliche Inhaber hat jeden seiner leckeren Ponchas frisch zubereitet und hatte auch Zeit für ein Schwätzchen. Wir haben einen tollen Einblick in seine Rum Sammlung erhalten, es lief schöne Musik und wir hatten rundum einen tollen Abend😊 Wir werden dem Madeira Rum House definitiv wieder einen Besuch abstatten😋 ~ K. Wenn man Madeirarum UND/ODER Madeirawein probieren möchte, dann unbedingt hier! Trotz des auf den ersten Blick touristischen Aussehens, hat diese Bar eigentlich ein sehr uriges Flair. Die Probierportionen sind wirklich lecker und man kommt auch schnell ins Gespräch mit dem Wirt. Wir waren total begeistert, zumal wir diese Bar auf Empfehlung der Rumdestillerien auf der Insel besucht haben." ~ Kai M
Ein ganz fantastischer Laden mit liebevollem Besitzer! Man merkt hier einfach, das der Chef für seinen Laden lebt, sich mit Rum auskennt und gerne auf Fragen zum Rum eingeht und seine Erfahrungen teilt. Nicht nur geschmacklich ein toller Ort, einfach ein super schönes Erlebnis! Wir kommen gerne wieder! P.S.: Nach dem Poncha im Rum House ist jeder andere Poncha nicht genießbar, weil hier einfach guter Rum verwendet wird.😎 Daumen hoch! 😊👍 ~ Alexander G
Ett flott sted for en øl, en drink eller en rum. Og har du ikke prøvd en lokal Poncha ennå er dette ett bra sted for det! Veldig hyggelige folk på jobb også. Stedet ligger innerst i en veldig turist orientert gate, med spisesteder med aktive innkastere. Litt slitsomt å komme dit, men mye bedre når du er der. ~ Kristian s
Great place to try and taste Rum of Madeira. The host was eager to explain everything you want to know about rum, the history of rum on madeira and anything you want to know. There is a wide variety of rums you can try (all local) and also special types you won't find in any store. It's also possible to buy those as a bottle (for take away), for a really fair price. We were also invited for some tastings we didn't order and got an introduction how to make poncha (including a tasting --> one of the best poncha we tried on madeira). Only drawback: the price for rum (4cl 5€ of whatever bottle/ age, March 2017) in store was a little bit high. ~ Mark H
Ottimi rum, personale cordiale e simpatico, ti consiglia i rum migliori in base ai tuoi gusti, ti spiega e ti parla delle distillerie presenti sul territorio. L'arredamento è super, il divano e la poltrona in pelle sono bellissimi e la musica in sottofondo è piacevolissima.. Ci stiamo andando tutte le sere😅❤️ ~ Denise C
Znakomite miejsce do zapoznania się z rumami z Madery. Wszystkie destylarnie w jednym miejscu zarówno w wersji podstawowej jak i serie specjalne. Właściciel ma też dużą wiedzę i da się porozmawiać na temat rumu, choć życie tam toczy się raczej wolno i ospale. Dla fanów tego trunku miejsce konieczne do odwiedzenia. ~ Jacek C
Da muss man hingehen, gefühlte 1000 Sorten Rum und der Madeira-Rum ist spitze 👍👍👍. Das Taisting ist sehr zu empfehlen!!! Im Ambiente der alten Gassen mit den bemalten Türen, phänomenal. Den super freundlichen und sympathischen Inhaber will ich besonders erwähnen. Danke ! ~ Kunzi
Must- Do. Rum is a somewhat underrated speciality of the island. The knowledgable staff will not push the most expensive stuff on you, but will recommend what is suitable for your experience and taste. Their poncha is an hq, reduced for autheticity version of the touristy thing you will get in wildly varying quality all over the island. Charmingly old fashioned blues, soul and rnb sound soothes your seal in one of the most romantic seatings in old town. They offer cigars as well - and of course also other drinks than rum. We had an amazing time at Madeira Rum Bar. The owner (Roberto) is very friendly and welcoming and gave us an authentic local experience. The drinks are fantastic. We tried two different rum (standard and premium), Ginja cherry liqueur and the Fisherman’s Poncha, it was very good : ) The atmosphere is positive and the music selection perfectly matches the vibe of the evening. This bar is unique in Funchal and a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a great night out with local charm. We’ll definitely come back on our next trip and highly recommend it. ~ Natalia
Kleiner, gemütlicher Laden mit einer riesigen Auswahl an einheimischen Rumsorten. Ich wusste vorher auch nicht, das es soviel davon gibt. Der Inhaber ist total nett und berät sehr gut. Als musikalische Untermalung liefen ein paar Vinyls mit Blues und Jazz. ~ Micha T

I was rather excited to find this gem of a Rum House. Being used to rum from the West Indies, which is arguably the best on the planet - in my opinion, I was dubious of not finding good quality rum (as most bars in the UK tend to opt for Bacardi or Captain Morgan's - both cheap and nasty). However, I was pleasantly surprised... The rum here is GOOOOOD, the selections available were wide. I tend to really like the reserve rums, and the quality here didn't disappoint at all. The owner/host was absolutely amazing. Very knowledgeable and more than happy to discuss and walk you through his passion for rum, imparting knowledge of; the local distilleries, the ingredients and even the production processes. The bar itself is small, which is not uncommon for the old town in Funchal, and very cosy. My love of rum was catered for, as was my love of vinyl records - which was being played on a turntable. Could have stayed all night, but I value my liver these days. Lol. Great place, nice atmosphere and excellent friendly service. ~ Adrian W
I was lucky enough to find this fantastic little bar at the beginning of our holiday. We returned each night without fail for the next 13 nights, for a couple of hours after our evening meal. The owner Roberto and his friend Victor, who helps out, were both extremely knowledgeable about all the rums they sell and, when the owner of the distillery of the rum I was actually drinking came in to the bar, he was introduced to me. Ironically I didn’t even know I liked rum but found myself drinking various rums neat with ice every night. Both Roberto and Victor were very friendly and interesting to chat to. The bar plays old jazz music, again something I didn’t know I liked and you have a free bowl of popcorn with each drink. I like a drink or two each night on holiday and have visited my fair share of posh flashy bars around the world but I can honestly say this is probably my favourite. It’s laid back and friendly with a great ambience and Roberto and Victor are a couple of top blokes! ~ parsnip10
Sehr guter Poncha, viele Sorten Rum und auch Anderes (Madeirawein z.B.), dazu nettes Ambiente und gut gelaunte Menschen. Wir waren zwei Mal da, es hat uns beide Male gut gefallen und wir haben zu den genossenen Rums auch viele Infos bekommen ~ Dagmar
Small, clean bar with seating outdoors and indoors. The guy running the place is friendly and super efficient and serves drinks quickly. Popcorn is a free dish served with drinks. The menu lacks info on the rums but you can always ask the guy. There are only a small selection of rums made in Madeira, you can get a set of 4 different rums of 2cl to taste for €15 for standard rums or €30 for the delux ones. A bit touristy with quick turnover so waiting for a table when it's busy isn't a big problem. ~ CB
I Love this Place! I was there 5 of 7 evenings I tried a lot of different rum! I see some people are complaining about the prices! They are not into the rum game, I’m sorry. The place is offering special rum that’s only produced like 600 times and the bottle is 100€ or more So I really understand the prices 😉 The owner and the stuff is super nice nice and helpful You should go there if you love rum! The experience showed me new ways of drinking rum… I would rate it 7/5 if possible I really come back some day! Love that place! ~ David H
La poncha più buona di Madeira, ne ho provate tante ma questa è decisamente la migliore, €3 al bicchiere fatta sul momento, una delizia! Ti danno anche i popcorn per accompagnare qualsiasi cosa tu prenda, e anche il rum è delizioso! Veramente un peccato dover tornare a casa con la consapevolezza di non poter più bere la poncha di questo locale. Inoltre il proprietario e la cameriera sono molto gentili e simpatici, molto sorridenti e disponibili! Grazie mille, ci sono venuta più di una volta e ce ne tornerei altre 1000. ~ Carlotta S
Très bonne expérience, Rhum locaux excellents ! Déguster avec possibilité d’achat, très bonne démarche. Gérant très sympa, prix correct. Ambiance décontracté, on apprécie la disposition de cigares cubain à la demande. ~ Quentin P
